Chevy Camaro Celebrates 100th Running of the Indy 500

100th Running of the Indy 500

Motorsports legend Roger Penske will set the pace at the upcoming Indianapolis 500 on May 29 behind the wheel of a 2017 Chevrolet Camaro SS 50th Anniversary Edition.

A whopping three major milestones will be celebrated that day: the 100th running of the Indy 500, the 50th anniversary of the Chevy Camaro, and Penske’s 50th year as a team owner.

Penske, who was almost a professional driver himself in his younger days, has won 16 Indy 500s over the last half century, more than any other team. When he takes the Camaro SS 50th Anniversary Edition to the track, it’ll be the ninth time the Camaro serves as pace car at the Indy 500 and the 27th time for Chevrolet. The first time it occurred was in 1967 when an RS/SS convertible led the race; the last time was a Z/28 coupe just two years ago.

“Chevrolet and Roger Penske are inextricably linked to the heritage of the Indianapolis 500,” said J. Douglas Boles, president of Indianapolis Motor Speedway. “When he leads the pack on May 29, behind the wheel of the Camaro SS, he will drive the race into its next 100 years and strengthen the bond Chevrolet and Indianapolis forged a century ago.”

Only four examples of the Camaro SS 50th Anniversary Edition are being built, so it’s unlikely we’ll ever see a copy in our showrooms, but you can still find the car it is based on at Tom Naquin!

2017 Cadillac XT5 Named to 2016 Wards 10Best Interiors List

2016 Wards 10Best Interiors
The 2017 Cadillac XT5 crossover has been named by WardsAuto to the 2016 Wards 10Best Interiors list, once again proving Cadillac’s commitment to excellence.

The 2017 Cadillac XT5 crossover has been named by WardsAuto to the 2016 Wards 10Best Interiors list, proving once more that when it comes to car interiors, few automakers can deliver quality and luxury like Cadillac.

WardsAuto’s Tom Murphy complimented its “first-rate materials,” including satin-finish Rosewood trim, supple semi-Aniline Maple Sugar leather, velvety microsuede headliner, and rich metallic brightwork.

The awards were selected by eight WardsAuto editors after they spent February and March evaluating the interiors of 47 all-new or significantly redesigned vehicles.

“Other features are impressive as well, such as the rear camera mirror, seamless connectivity of the Cadillac User Experience, bright head-up display, Ultraview panoramic sunroof and generally flawless fit-and-finish,” said Murphy.

He also pointed out that the XT5 manages to remain comfortable and ergonomic despite these numerous technology features.

The XT5 replaced the outgoing SRX and is already one of our most popular models at Tom Naquin. Come check it out today to see why WardsAuto thinks so highly of its interior for yourself!
