Chevrolet Special Edition Trucks Celebrate 100 Years

Chevrolet is celebrating its 100-year anniversary of creating the toughest trucks ever to rock the road. While looking back at the origins of Chevy trucks, it’s the perfect time to take note of two special edition models as well. The Chevrolet Special Edition trucks feature small touches that stretch back to the iconic design of the 1918 One-Ton pickup.

The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Centennial Edition is available on LTZ Z71 trims. It rolls out on 22-inch silver-painted wheels with chrome tow hooks, door handles, belt line, and wheel inserts.

The Chevrolet Colorado Centennial Edition rides high on 18-inch wheels with monochromatic bowties. Like its larger sibling, the midsize truck features chrome tow hooks, door handles, belt line, and mirror caps.

As a nod to their origins, both Centennial Edition trucks bear dark blue heritage bowtie emblems with “Chevrolet” printed across the center. Centennial door badges come standard as well. The Silverado 1500 and Colorado 100-year-anniversary trucks are only available in a Centennial Blue paintjob.

There’s little doubt that Chevrolet’s history in the truck segment is the stuff of legends. From the original 1918 One-Ton truck to the fierce 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and Colorado, capability has always been the focus. We here at Tom Naquin couldn’t be more excited to see the special edition pickups in person and test their capabilities!

Details Emerge Regarding the 2018 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel

2018 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel
While the car won’t be released until the 2018 model year, details on the 2018 Chevrolet Cruze diesel have been announced.

Don’t let this year’s Volkswagen scandal fool you—“diesel” isn’t the dirty word that people think it is. For years, diesel vehicles have proven that there is a cleaner, safer, and more efficient way to fuel a car—and Chevrolet knows all of the possibilities that diesel holds.

The automaker has been working to create a Cruze diesel that will provide a much-needed option for those buyers searching for a solid diesel vehicle.

While the car won’t be released until the 2018 model year, details on the 2018 Chevrolet Cruze diesel have been announced. It will be powered by a 1.6-liter CDTi four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, with the transmission potentially being a nine-speed automatic or a six-speed manual gearbox. With that combination, the Cruze diesel could earn around 50 mpg.

While 50 mpg seems improbably high, even for a diesel vehicle, note that the Vauxhall Astra—which shares many underpinnings—has a mpg rate of about 55. So, you can expect to see this exciting addition to the Cruze family to set the standard for all diesel vehicles to come.
For those people who care more about driving pleasure than purely fuel economics, the style and enhancements of the RS badge are rumored to be optionally offered on the Cruze diesel, resulting in a sporty Cruze RS that is sure to be a hit.

Safety Tips for Driving in Fog

Driving in Fog
Fall is one of the biggest times of the year for foggy weather, so make sure to memorize these safety tips for driving in fog.

Fog could be one of the most dangerous weather conditions to drive in. In particularly, thick fog because it can make it impossible to see cars just a few feet in front of you. Fall is one of the biggest times of the year for foggy weather, so make sure to memorize these safety tips for driving in fog.

The most important thing to do when driving in fog is go slow. Not just a couple of miles under the speed limit—if your visibility is very low, you want to go slow enough that you have time to hit the brakes and stop, no matter how close you are to the car in front of you. If you can’t see at all, it’s best to pull over for a while and wait for visibility to get better.

Put your headlights on, but do not put your high-beams on. Fog is made up of small water droplets, which reflect the light of high-beam headlights and actually make it harder for you to see. Low-beam headlights are necessary to use so other drivers can see you more clearly.

Eliminate distractions like the radio, your phone, and conversation with passengers so you can keep your entire focus on the road. In low visibility conditions, you need to be able to react the second that something appears in front of you.

Chevy and American Cancer Society Team Up for Breast Cancer Awareness

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer
Each year Chevy dealerships support Making Strides Against Breast Cancer by sponsoring events, engaging customers, and team participation.

Chevy and the American Cancer Society are teaming up to spread awareness for breast cancer. This is Chevy’s sixth year teaming up with the ACS, and over the course of the partnership Chevy has raised over $6 million for breast cancer research.

Each year Chevy dealerships across the country support Making Strides Against Breast Cancer by sponsoring events, engaging customers, team participation, and more. Chevy raised $1.6 million last year and sponsored 84 ACS walks, and this October Chevy plans to beat last year’s goal through a variety of social media programs and dealership events.

This year, Chevy will donate $5 (for up to $500,000) for every Twitter and Instagram post with the hashtag #IDriveFor, which simultaneously raises awareness and research funds. Chevrolet and GM employees across the country will participate in awareness walks, and dealerships will sponsor teams in community walks.

The Chevrolet SS sedan pace car will also feature a Making Strides paint job, with a full coat of pink paint and pink breast cancer ribbons on the hood and sides. Chevy will also donate $350 (up to $50,000) for every caution lap the pace car takes at the NASCAR Sprint Cup races at Talladega Superspeedway and Martinsville Speedway later this month.

Leading EV Seller in the World
Renault Nissan has hit a milestone of 350,000 electric vehicles sold, holding its position as the leading EV seller in the world.

Renault Nissan has hit a milestone of 350,000 electric vehicles sold with its popular LEAF and other electric vehicles, holding its position as the leading EV seller in the world. August also marked an important milestone for the company, when it sold 100,000 vehicles in a single year, a new record for EVs.

More than 230,000 LEAFs have been sold since it was introduced in 2010, making it the most popular electric car in the world. Renault is also the best-selling EV brand in Europe and recently delivered its 100,000th electric vehicle to a customer in Norway in person.

The Renault-Nissan partnership is the only auto group in the world that sells a wide range of electric vehicles, including the LEAF and several others like the e-NV200, a commercial vehicle that is mostly used in Europe and Japan. Renault sells four EVs of its own: the ZOE, the Kangoo Z.E. van, the SM3 Z.E. sedan, and the Twizy, which is a two-seater used for city commutes.

Renault Nissan continues to innovate and push for better range and safety, setting its eventual dual goal as an entire lineup of cars with “zero emissions and zero fatalities.” In recent years Renault Nissan has dramatically improved the range of all its vehicles as well as developing advanced driver assist technologies.

How to Change a Cabin Air Filter

Change a Cabin Air Filter
Changing a cabin air filter is one of those things you can easily do yourself. Follow these steps and you’ll be amazed at how easy it is!

Changing a cabin air filter is one of those things you can easily do yourself, but most people never learn how, and they either let it go or spend a lot of money having it done by a mechanic. Fall is a great time to change your cabin air filter, so follow these steps and you’ll be amazed at how easy it is!

First, locate the cabin air filter. Usually it’s behind your glove compartment, but your owner’s manual will tell you for sure. Go to a parts store and ask them about the right kind of filter for your car. Then get a couple of screwdrivers and a rag so you can wipe off the compartment where the filter goes. Once you have your parts and tools assembled, it’s time to get started.

Once you know where the air filter is, whether that’s under the hood, under the dashboard, or behind the glove compartment, open up the housing unit and take the old filter out. It may just pop out, or you might have to unscrew it.

Depending on what it looks like, you may want to keep this filter for a while longer. If it’s very gray and slimy, replace it, but if it looks relatively clean and white, you could put it back and save the new one for a few more miles down the road.

If you want to replace it, just wipe down the housing unit with your rag and pop the new air filter into place. Screw it back in if you need to and you’re done!
